With the threat of impending doom two senators and one governor have decided not to run again this year.Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota along with Colorado governor Bill Ritter
Part of this may have something to do with the Senate race in Massachusetts between (R)Scott Brown and (D) Martha Coakley. Brown was behind 30 points just one month ago, with 2 weeks to go before the election he is trailing by just 9 points. If Brown wins the election, this will essentially kill the 60 vote majority the Democrats need to pass their health care bill freely. With a total of 4 senate seats needing to be filled come this November, there is a good chance that Republicans can relieve the stranglehold the Democrats have on the Senate.
